Direct Comparison Test
Step 1: Create a known based off of the unknown. Find the highest exponent on top and bottom and simplify to create the known.
ex) Unknown: x²âˆ•x³-1 --> known: 1/x

Step 2: Determine if the known diverges or
converges
ex: ∑1/x from x=1 to infinity diverges due to the
p-test

Step 3: Graph the known and unknown (unknown is blue, known is red)

Step 4: Determine diverge or converge. If the known converges, and the known is above the unknown, the unknown will also converge. If the known diverges, and the unknown is above the known, then the unknown will also diverge.
ex) For this example, the known diverges and the unknown is above the known, therefore, the unknown, ∑x²/x³-1, diverges.
